Peony Bouquet Watercolor

The first painting I'm showing in my blog is a 16 x 20 watercolor on canvas. I wished I would have started blogging just a couple of weeks sooner and I could have started showing the very beginning of this painting. The focus of this painting are the 3 large Peonies. There are also background flowers of Tulips and also some filler flowers that are not painted in, I haven't quite decided what colors to make them yet.

The light flower at the top, still needs more work...today I painted in some Burnt Sienna on it and added some pink. I think I'll go back and put more white in at a later time. I like to make changes like this, experiment with an idea and then, let the painting sit for awhile and see how it is looking to me the next day.

The very large cranberry/pink peony is the central flower of the painting. Except for a few tweaks here and there, that flower is done.

Hi Ruth, Love your peonies! Great idea to show a painting-in-progress. I'm like you....I paint awhile and then have to let it sit and look at to see what I want to do next. Lovely blog...now isn't this fun?? Marilyn
