Egg Art

You know, it dawned on me lately, I need to paint more things that really bring me happiness. Sometimes you find yourself spending all your energies painting for other people but you forget to take the time for yourself, doing something that brings you joy. Eggs are one of those things for me, I just love painting them and I've decided that this year, I will make more of an effort to create more of them. These are 2 eggs I painted last week, complete and on their stands, ready to go.

This one is my Little Spring Bluebird, which has been painted on a turkey egg. I like to add a little sparkle to most of my eggs so I've attached Swarovsky crystals to some of the branches.

As you can see from this view, turkey eggs have a beautiful speckled design to their shells.

This one is my Pretty In Pink Rose. I've painted this rose in different shades of pink and I've surrounded it with purple filler flowers. I've also added some small pink crystals on this piece as well. This rose was painted on a duck egg and as you can see, this particular egg, has a very soft, pretty green tone to its shell.

I'm so dedicated to painting more eggs this year that I've opened an additional ETSY shop called Elegant Egg Art. In this shop, there will be no man made surfaces for me, I'm dedicating it to egg art and gourd birdhouses. I think they are two types of items that compliment each other nicely and of course, they both come from nature.

Beautiful! Beautiful! And I love the way you've added the crystals - a sweet touch. My favorite has to be that dear little bluebird!

It's positively splendid, your egg art! I'd always wanted to try my hand at something like that; alas, the blowing part always got in the way!
