Pendants For Kathryn

I have finished the miniatures for kathryn's order. These were so much fun, I really had a blast painting them.

My favorites by far, are the butterflies. I took so many great photos of butterflies this summer, I really wanted to put them to good use and paint some on a few pendants.

It has kind of inspired me to do a whole series of butterfly miniatures now.

Kathryn's favorite themes were Hydrangeas and Roses so I did a lot whith those 2 kinds of flowers. I also tried to vary designs a bit to keep them interesting for both her and me.

I'm really looking forward to starting on the Emu Egg brides' box and should be getting that going later on in the week. I will post pictures of the naked egg before I start painting it so you can see what I'll be working with. I'm so into the idea of painting jewelry boxes now that I think I will get some more of these going and add a new section on my ETSY site, just for jewelry boxes.

Hi Ruth,
What i have foundwith birds is like many animals they have a distance that they will let you come to then they fly off.To try and solve this i use a Digital SLR camera with a 400mm lense. This allows you to get a close up picture but you are far enough away not to frighten off. I also tend to find a place and stay there as after a time the birds will return.
It is very difficult with a point and shoot style camera as you have to be close to get a picture.

Cheers Mark

And i see i should have said Lotus blossom instead of water lilies, they are both beautiful.

Hi Mark,

You are a doll for answering my question, thanks very much. That is kinda what I figured, I need to sit in one place, far away, not move and have the ability to zoom. I do have a good digital camera that has great zoom capacity so, I will try your advice. I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks ladies! Ow, Karen over at Teacups & Twigs, yes, she does make some beautiful wreaths. The prettiest I have seen actually. I contacted her about making that big wreath for me, for over our bed. It came out just beautifully. I took some really good photos of it too, looks so pretty on my blue wall. I plan to blog about her and her pretty wreaths one of these days. I am in the process though of ordering a fall wreath from her so I might wait until I can show both at once.
