Little Gray Kitty

My little gray kitty mailbox was a holiday order I shipped out last week. It is going to its new home, all the way to Belgium believe it or not.

I often get asked what I need to complete a pet portrait mailbox. All I need to do a proper job, are as many good quality photos as you can send via e-mail. I need as many close ups and different poses as you can come up with. Basically, the more good quality photos that you can send me, the better.

I doubt I will have much time in the next few weeks to work on my rose watercolor. Even though I'm yearning too, I have a slew of Christmas orders to complete and get shipped out so at the moment, those take priority. I hope to return to my watercolor over my Christmas vacation. This is when I take a much needed break from custom orders, to focus on what I would like to paint.... or sometimes, I paint nothing at all.

Thanks Jo, Jenn & Jacqui, I also sent a mailbox to Italy once and a ceiling tin painted with roses in oils, to Korea. Those were some long journeys.

That is so beautiful! To have a mailbox with the portrait of one's pet!! What a great idea and your work is perfection! You captured the personality of the cat ..the body language tells it all..my cats have the same when walking about the garden! Lovely work! You are gifted!

Thank you Gail & Alicia, for your visit.

Nice to see you Melissa & NG. I'm a dog person Nature Girl and although my friends have cats, I'm not used to having them around my house, therefore, a bit unfamiliar with the way they might move or act. Luckily though, the person that commissioned the mailbox sent some beautiful photos of the cat sitting in some lush, green grass. Made a great back drop for the kitties himself.

Ruth… What a lovely job you did! We don't have mailboxes like that in my city or I'd order one, too!

Thanks Michelle & Penny... yes, sometimes when you take a break, it is nice to do nothing at all and just let your creative juices get flowing again.

I love your blog and artwork, kitty is cute.I just had a tragedy with my little dog CeCe.She was attacked by a bullpit Sunday.Thank God she is going to be ok,her leg is chewed up,heart enlarged from trauma.CeCe is on heavy morphine.the doctor did not know how either one of us survived the viscious attack. She is the only family I have.I was creating Xmas projects but everything is on hold ..I guess I won't be celebrating this year! angels must have protected her,I was also in shock and cannot remember how the pit got off her? People were there just standing watching like entertainment.Arch Angel Michael is near me I have been told in past.Thank God! I am blogging your blog! LOL Denise

Denise, it is great to meet you. I would love to exchange blog links with you.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your dog, I'm glad he'll be ok...what a horrible thing to have happen. I hope he's doing very well and will make a full recovery very soon.

The 'all the way to Belgium' comments made me smile as Belgium is right next door to me, literally. ;-)

What a great way to decorate a mailbox and so well done too. The new owners must be very happy with it. BTW is that kitty a Russian Blue?

Hi Ruth~
Very cute kitty...I'm sure the new owners will be thrilled with it!

Thanks Yoland & Suzanne, he was a fun kitty to paint.

Regarding your question Yolanda, I'm not sure if he's a Russian Blue or not, the owner didn't say. He sure is a pretty little guy though. : )
