A Day Trip To Parkside Orchid Nursery

If you love growing Orchids or just want to spend a couple of hours in a lush, Orchid filled environment, Parkside Orhids in Ottisville PA (Buck's County) is the place for you to go.

Parkside has 5 greenhouses for all their gorgeous Orchid Species. To me, a trip out to PA to visit them is similar to a kid getting to run wild in a candy store for the afternoon. They are absolutely my favorite place to buy Orchids. You cannot beat the selection at Parkside and there is always someone around to help if you have questions.....THEY KNOW THEIR ORCHIDS!

In addition, I've had wonderful luck with regards to reblooming from all their Orhids. If you are not lucky enough to live close by or within driving range, they have a wonderful mail order service as well, that will deliver beautiful blooming plants to your door.

You can visit Parkside on the web..... http://www.parksideorchids.com/ for more information. Tom and John own this incredibly beautiful nursery and whenever I have had questions and e-mailed him for advice, Tom has always gotten back to me with helpful Orchid tips or suggestions.

A couple of months ago, I wrote to Tom to ask what species of Orchid I might want to move into after years of enjoying growing Phalaenopsis. He advised me that Oncidiums and Lady Slippers would be a nice progression for me and so yesterday, armed with Christmas money, I purchased my first Oncidium and Lady Slipper Orchids....I also couldn't resist one sweet Phalaenopsis that I saw as well and I came home with 3 new beauties.

I'll be showing my new purchases in the upcoming weeks, as the buds start to open and the beautiful blooms appear. For now, I hope you'll enjoy the small photo tour of Parkside Orchid Nursery. I hope it will offer you a bit of a respite from the cold winter blues. Enjoy!!!

Hi Ruth,

Your photographs are as beautiful as the orchids. I have never seen so many unusual and incredible colors of orchids - you must be on inspiration overload with so much beauty in one day.

What a fabulous treat and thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to seeing you paint these beauties and will be back for another visit to see the orchids again.
Have a lovely and creative week.

Wow, these are amazing. Do you live close enough to get there often? If you do, that is very fortunate. These are so lovely... the colors of the peachy pink one are just unbelievable, and you have captured it so well with your camera, as usual. Also love the beautiful sand dollar pendants. Your creativity truly shines in such a unique design.

Blessings,
Christi

Hi Ruth, What a beautiful tour of Orchids. Great to also know that they have mail order. Wonder how they would do here in the hot Texas heat. I have not seen anyone grow orchids here.

So I may have to enjoy yours from afar. I bet your new orchids become inspiration for some gorgeous paintings.

Thanks for sharing this incredible place in PA.(I wish I was close enough to make it a car trip. I have lots of family in PA.)
Hugs, Celestina Marie

Hi Ruth,

I just passed the Fabulous Finds Award on to you for painting on the 100 year old ceiling tiles and widows. You are a fabulous artist and the work you do on the old ceiling tiles is fabulous. You certainly know how to re-purpose the lovely old ceiling tiles and I added on the word "re-purpose to fabulous finds. I added you onto my blog with a link to your blog under the award.
Have a creative week - hmm- wonder if you are painting orchids!!!!
