Tile Trivets & Late Summer Swallowtail Butterflies

Beyond my frenzy of late to create cards from my artwork, I've also been making 6" x 6" tile trivets or I know, as lots of people like to call them.....hot plates.

These are 3 or 7 different varieties so far, that I'll be adding to my ETSY site little by little.  Along with cards though, I'm really looking forward to selling the trivets at crafts fairs when I relocate.

I cannot wait to have tile murals of some of my painted pieces, I think they will be very dimensional and fun.  My husband will be my grout and frame man, piecing everything together, grouting to connect the segments and finally, finishing with a custom made frame.  Think of one of the above images much much larger and broken into smaller segments, connected to make a larger, ceramic piece of wall art.....and if you can imagine that, you will have imagined what I would like to create.

These are all late season swallowtial butterflies that have been visiting my garden in the last few weeks.  I'm actually creating a painting now with 4 different kinds of butterflies and two of them are swallowtails so these beauties couldn't have fluttered into my garden at a bettter time.  The inspiration they gave me has been amazing.

I hope you find some lovely inspiration in your end of the season garden as well.

I love these and I can imagine the larger framed pictures too - with a piece of the full image on each.

Lovely art work!

Beautiful butterflies. Sadly, we do not have them here, but i have seen many in the Crimea as a child.

Your tiles look great and the larger mosaic tiles sound awesome! These will do great at shows when you get started!

Those trivets are beautiful! And I can imagine any one of the swallowtail photos becoming a painting or a trivet as well :)

I love the trivets Ruth! What a great addition to your line. I look forward to seeing your ceramic wall art too!

I call hot plates trivets too. Jim did not know the word trivet when we first started dating!

Your butterfly photos are beautiful. What a great sight for the end of summer.

Hi Ruth, WOW your trivets are lovely. The inspiration from your garden is perfect. Love the butterflies. My garden is really blooming with roses at the moment and of course give me lots of inspiration too. In fact, I created a set of stone coasters yesterday.
Love your end of the season garden. The weather is perfect now but still a bit warm here. We are hoping to break out the sweaters soon.
Have a great rest of the week.

Hugs, Celestina Marie
p.s. you asked if the chair can still recline. Yes it does, but I will probably use a foot stool as to not stretch the crochet too much. thanks for stopping by.
