I love to take walks for exercise and the other day while I was out, I collected lots of fall leaves. They really inspired me to create another fairy painting to incorporate the leaves into. I sketched out a fairy on my 9 x 12 watercolor block. A block is a pad of watercolor paper, where all the pages are attched to one another. When you are finished with your painting, you cut the piece of paper off with a letter opener or dull knife. This allows you to paint without the paper buckling while you work.
I'm using quite a lot of metallic paint on this one and the fallen leaves she is standing behind, are very colorful. I'm actually halfway finished with the painting now and will post photos of the finished piece when I'm done. It's not unusual for me to work on a couple of different watercolors at once, it gives me variety . Right now, this small one is giving me a much needed break from my larger painting. When I start to take things too seriously, I need to take a step back and take a break. Working on something different can really do the trick.
