Purple Clematis & Hummingbird

I shipped out my last mailbox of the year a few weeks ago. Even though right now, I'm taking time off from this kind of work to concentrate on some other painting projects, I really did like the subject as it reminds me of kinder months weather wise.

The customer wanted deep purple Clematis as this is the flower that grows by her mailbox post. She said they always attract a good bunch of red throated hummers each year as well , so she wanted to combine these themes for her new mailbox. I hope that the purple Clematis and Hummingbird will bring a bit of warm weather spirit to your winter.

Hi Ruth, isn't that a gorgeous colour the clematis?! And the little hummingbird, so cute to paint would imagine! The combination of both would be so pretty on the lady's mailbox!! Beautiful painting Ruth! Jenn and Jacqui

I love your style Ruth, I bet your customer was very pleased with her new letter box. Are you going to reveal what you are working on??? I'd love to see whatever it is. Nice to work on different things isn't it, I've been working on a beach scene today...I enjoyed it so much.

Thanks very much ladies, glad you liked the mailbox. Kind of reminds me of the warm weather to come. It is pretty warm here in NY today though...it is supposed to be 68 degrees, which is pretty wonderful and unbelievable for January.

The mailbox is beautiful. Those purple clematis blooms are so pretty and certainly do add a spot of colour to a snowy day!

Oh I know your customer will be thrilled with that gorgeous painted mailbox. It's pretty amazing but I still have some clematis blooming. Weird weather.

Hi Ruth, very pretty mailbox! Speaking of warm weather "to come" it was in the 70's yesterday and today - where is winter? I feel like I'm living in Florida instead of GA!

Thanks Linda, Kari & Kijsa & Michelle.

Gail, sorry, I forgot to answer you question with regards to what I'm working on this winter. I'm changing over my whole website sometime this year...decorative items will probably all go on my etsy shop. I'll be working on more watercolors, listing products made using those images and I'm also really interested in antique ceiling tins and will be painting a lot of shabby chic, rose designs on those. I'll keep ya posted.

Hi Ruth, Just love the idea of all these bright and cheery mail boxes all over the place.Have you ever driven past one on your travels?

Ruth Welter said...

Hi Mark, funny enough, I have shipped mailboxes all over the country, 2 abroad (ah, the beauty of selling on-line) so nobody close enough to me, has one for me to see.
