How Does Your Garden Grow?

Imagine my surprise this year when I realized I had a Lilac bush in the yard. When we moved up the street to where we are now, it was June of last year and the Lilacs had long stopped blooming. I was really thrilled to discover this bush and needless to say, I've been out smelling the Lilacs quite a bit.

I was also able to get some really good, close up photos of them that I will store away for possible use on a future painting.

Other exciting things are of course happening in the garden as well. This is a photo of my deep purple Clematis getting ready to bloom. I have 3 in my back garden, dark purple, lavender and white. They all have lots of blooms so I'm looking forward to them opening up.

Another favorite....a serious favorite of mine, are my bearded Iris's. I have purple and the most beautiful pink. They should also be blooming any time now and I'll post more photos again when they open up.

Enjoy Spring and the beautiful weather.

Oh Lilacs... just one of the most heavenly flowers on this earth with that sweet sweet smell... as a chile when I was growing up my mother had a lilac bush in our backyard... it was way down at the end but that smell just covered the whole yard... such a pleaseure to drink in...

Lucky you!!

LOVING all the other beauties you have too ... cant wait to see when they are in full bloom

Golly Ruth I can almost smell those lilacs. Lucky you to have them in your yard. I have had a small one in my yard for three years but it has never bloomed. Luckily my neighbor lets me pick from her bushes. The only reason I was able to just buy the ferns is because I knew I was going with my friend on Monday to buy lots of plants which we did. :)

Hi Ruth!
I just planted a Lilac bush last week! It already had little buds on it and now it is opening. Mine is really small yet - Only about a foot high..

My lavender Clematis is blooming and my iris's just opened today! We have alot of the same plants...

I love lilacs, Ruth! They don't grow well down south, but we had them when living in PA. Love the fragrance.
I see some lilac paintings coming!

I love those happy surprises in life! Lilacs are the most lovely and fragrant flowers, you are so lucky to have a plant in your yard! My previous two yards have had some wonderful smelling flowers, but my new house is pretty barren. I miss the loveliness!

Happy happy day,
Melissa
