Butterfly And Pink Rose Original Acrylic On Canvas

I'm back from vacation and I feel very inspired and excited to start painting again. Sometimes a short break is all I need to recharge the creative batteries. I finished this Butterfly and Pink Rose painting before vacation and just put the final touches on it yesterday and was able to officially call it "completed". This is 8 x 10 acrylic on canvas board and comes with the stand shown.

To me, the best thing about this rose is that it is not currently being munched on by Japanese Beetles, like my own roses are at this very moment. Here in NY, this has been a wicked year for those blasted bugs, I have never seen it so bad before. I'm looking forward to the arrival of August as the beetles will be gone then.

A close up of the butterfly and some of the rose detailing.

Currently this is available on my ETSY site: http://www.artfulcreations.etsy.com/ and will soon be coming to my website. In my next post I'll be showing some outrageously small miniatures. I've been working with a worldwide miniatures club doing lots of custom work and I have to say, it has created some new challenges as well as fun painting experiences for me.
Until next time, stay cool and enjoy summer and stay away from the beetles.

Hi Ruth!!
This is my FAVORITE piece out of all the pieces you've created!!! Just Beautiful!!!
I'm glad you are feeling refreshed from your vacation!!!
I, too, am having some kind of infestation on my roses. I don't normally use insecticides, but I'm about to change my mind.
Here's wishing you a Fabulous week!
Hugs!

I am so glad you put a beautiful butterfly on that rose instead of a Japanese beetle. Yuk! The beetles are awful little creatures making a mess out of our roses and other plantings. They are all over my basil of all things. I don't use pesticide so several times a day I have to go out and flick them off of my plants.

Hi Ruth,
The rose painting is absolutely beautiful! I love how you paint roses. Can't wait to see the miniatures!
We don't seem to have too many beetles, thank heavens.

Ruth... simply gorgeous!! I too like the butterfly affect.... it gives it just a touch of whimsy

I was having a time of it with the beetles myself... damaging everything... and I dont normally use pesticides but I sprayed sevin around the perimeter of my yard and around the area of the roses and a small mist in the air... and have not had any problems...

my neighbor uses those bags which of course attract them instead of getting rid of them

Hi Ruth! This painting is stunning! I love the purple shades, too: even in the butterfly's shadow. I know, I always notice the detail. I also really like the way you signed your name along the stem! Nice touch!

If I had the budget right now, I would purchase this. It would be right at home in my entranceway.

I enjoyed the garden tour in the precious post! I can't wait to see all of the painting ideas that you stored up during vacation.

Hugs, KJ

Hi Ruth ...Hope you had a wonderful and relaxing vacation. I adore this painting ...it's one of my favorites.

I forgot to mention to you awhile ago ...I gave my sister her poppy gourd you painted for me for her birthday. She loves it! I put together a garden basket and your painted gourd was the highlight! Thank you so much for making my sister's birthday a special day!
